Posters and flyers advertising meetings; Alfred University memorandums; an art project by Alfred University students; newsletters (1989-1996), including Stone & Sling, Allegany!, Reporter, Intervenor, Don't Waste New York; Concerned Citizens of Allegany County; also, meeting minutes, New York State Low-Level radioactive Waste Advisory Committee, and New York State Siting Commission. Collection includes local newspaper clippings file (1988-1995); microfiche (Sept.1989) "Report on potential sites identification (text and maps)"; summary of findings from a survey of Allegany County residents concerning the siting of a nuclear waste facility, Oct. 1990; two videotapes (VHS): "My Name is Allegany County" (a 1993 documentary of the issue) and "Bump the Dump" (an original play performed in Nov.1995 at Alfred State College that tells the story of a fictional family torn apart by the conflict).

The State Legislature created the New York State Low-Level Radioactive Waste Siting Commission in 1986 (Chapter 673) under the management of the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA) to provide for the safe disposal of low-level radioactive waste generated within the state.
